The Villa Collection
When I think about Italy today, I think about moments of leisure in colossal villas on the water. That’s the Italy that I find inspiration in for wedding floristry too. But that’s not the Italy that we lived in during our immigration moments. Someday I want to reclaim our Italian story and design a wedding in her countryside. There was one villa, though, which was the Scala residence where my mom was employed to clean. Mirella Scala always gave my mom a coffee when she came. Her Italian moment.
My family including my aunt, me, my great-grandmother Lena, my grandmother and my grandfather sitting in Italy enjoying some wine.

As a kid, there was always one story that made me laugh. The Scala’s once invited my mom and her sister to a party. Realistically, they were invited to be wait-staff and to clean after this event. But my mom and her sister thought they were guests. And so they showed up in ball gowns. As a kid, I just always imagined what that image must have been. How confused they were - and how even more confounded the Scalas must have been. No matter how many times they told me this story, I always giggled. I hope you do too. Immigration journeys are messy and replete with misunderstandings.
Opening ws-fiori is a dream of bringing the elegance of our custom events to everyone.
“Villa” is the ultimate Italian dream - but also represents humble beginnings.
It feels right to honor my - and my family’s - journey in this new venture.
